COVID 19 Liability Shield Rumors and How To Protect Your Business

We’ve all heard Congress talk about a shield from liability suits for business due to Covid-19. Most of us have also probably heard Congress is bickering over this. While Congress has not taken any action, 12 states are in various stages of passing or having passed bills to protect you.

The National Law Review, on July 20, 2020 cited Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming as being in the process or having passed a bill.

Each of these states have a different approach to the liability shield, and none of these bills are a blanket shield. Other states may be taking this issue up in the future.

We should all know what protection we can get in our state. If you are in one of those states, try Googling to see if you can find the protection you have. If you would like me to research your state, please email me at beth@blockins.net but, I will give the warning that research will have to take a backseat to our client’s needs. Having said that, I love research so I will work it in whenever possible.
